2017 Parade Queen Mary Lynne Loftus

Mary Lynne Loftus is an 18-year-old graduating Liberal Arts student at Marianopolis College. As an International Studies Certificate student and member of the women’s studies club Ilerstory in History, she is passionate about travel and the advocacy of gender equality. Next year, she plans to pursue a university degree in Political Science.

Her Irish ancestry derives from her father’s side as he and many generations were born and raised in Ballina, County Mayo.
Currently, she participates in extracurricular school activities as Editor-in-chief of the PaperCut (school newspaper) and Model United Nations (Model UN) Club. As a member of Model UN, Mary Lynne participates in local, national and international conferences. She volunteers to increase social wellness and raise money for local charities through music-related fundraisers as Co-president of Jam for Justice Marianopolis. She also volunteers to organize workshops for Peace, Love and Hope, an anti-bullying project reaching thousands of children around the world. Mary Lynne has also taught catechism at St. Patrick’s Basilica.

A cross-country runner, she has taken part in Tour du Mont-Royal Brébeuf and plans to run Le Grand défi Pierre Lavoie this May.
