A Message from your
Service de police de
la Ville de Montréal

This year’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be held on Sunday, March 17, 2019 and marks our 196th celebration of this event, which is the oldest and one of the biggest St. Paddy’s parades in North America.

The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) is proud to work with you to make this parade a success and showcase your public spirit. We do want to make some practical suggestions, however:

  • Civil behaviour toward all event participants is expected;
  • Montréal’s public assets and urban furniture belong to the entire population: please treat them with respect;
  • The consumption of alcohol is strictly prohibited on the public roads. Be careful. Make sure you are sober if you are going to drive. Otherwise, make alternative arrangements, such as using public transit.

These easy suggestions will help make the parade fun for everyone.

You will once again be able to count on the presence of SPVM police officers to ensure the day runs smoothly.

We are also counting on your cooperation, and we wish you an excellent – and safe – St. Patrick’s Day.
